2019: I will not accept political violence, Gov Abubakar warns



As he emerged the 2019 Bauchi state gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has reiterated his commitment to peaceful conduct of next years’ general elections because “no personal ambition or any public office is worth human life.” According to a press statement signed by press secretary to the governor, Mr Abubakar Al-Sadique, and emailed to newsmen, Governor Mohammed Abubakar who stated this when he received the Bauchi State Council of Traditional Leaders on a courtesy visit, said he was glad the recent primary election that made the APC flagbearer was peacefully conducted.

The further quoted the governor as vowing to severely deal with “any politician who puts the lives of the people in danger because of his personal interest,” stressing that he had sworn to protect the lives and property all the people of Bauchi state and therefore no life will be lost under his watch.

The governor lamented that Bauchi State had misused the opportunity to make the state great when PDP held sway to power for 16 years while other state that were created years after deployed the resources they received from the federation accounts to develop and transform their critical infrastructures. Governor Abubakar assured traditional leaders of peaceful conduct of all the 2019 primary and general elections, and therefore extended invitation to those who contested the 2019 gubernatorial primaries against him to put heads together with him and move the state to greater heights, pointing out that “there will always be one winner in any electoral contest.

”The governor said, “Under my watch, government will not drag our respected traditional institution into politics,” and urged the traditional leaders to remain apolitical and keep playing their fatherly roles, the statement added.Speaking earlier, chairman of the Bauchi State Council of Traditional Leaders, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleimanu Adamu, while commending the governor for the peaceful conduct of the gubernatorial primaries, prayed God to lead the governor to perform more in the remaining period of his stewardship.Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu applauded the governor for disallowing traditional leaders to participate in politics, and prayed for the peaceful conduct of the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
